Lessons Learned

This course has offered me great learning opportunities that I will be able to incorporate in to my final Capstone project. I have learned things that have given me a better connection and understand to God and his ability to change lives. God offers us so many learning opportunites in life and it is our responsibiity to embrase and go after them!

1. Lessons Learned: Identify three things you learned about the literature as it relates to research in this course and your capstone topic. 1. I would say the first and one of the most beneficial things I learned in this class was the process of research and collecting different sources to use. I became familiar with the online library available through IWU where I could gather specific articles in connection to my Capstone project. I was able to learn how to properly review these articles and collect the key information needed to incorporate into my Capstone. 2. This class gave me the opportunity to connect God in to all of my daily experiences in order to have a stronger relationship with him. When we have faith and rely on God, our overall well-being, attitude, and outlook on life become better and more hopeful. In relation to my Capstone, it is important to educate youth on the importance of God in their lives. God offers us the opportunity of forgiveness and eternal life and allowing youth to understand this gives them something to believe and depend on. God’s creations are all around us and the more we understand those creations, the more we understand God and form closeness to him, his word, and his opportunities. 3. Literature reviews and different article resources allowed me to learn about information and God’s incorporation in to the information. When putting together a Capstone project, it is not only important to have many sources, but you must have a way to organize these sources and lay out their information. Different reviews, outlines, and papers allowed me to process the information and incorporate it into my Capstone project.

2. Using your capstone topic as an example, explain how psychological research impacts human understanding physically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Capstone topic: Mentoring youth on different social skills in order to have positive interactions with authority and peers. Psychological research allows us to understand why we do certain things and how these things affect us individually. The way that we psychologically process and understand things affects us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Mentoring youth on different social skills in order to have positive interactions allows us to fully understand the individual youth and their different thoughts and emotions. When we are able to psychologically understand someone, we have a better understanding of them physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
